Currently, Bruce is keeping busy by doing
real estate appraisals, but he tells us he retired
from Xerox as Manager of Systems
Development.
This form asks how he has
changed since high school? His reply to that
is "well, I got older, but I'm not sure how much
wiser I've become".
His greatest
achievements as he sees it are that he stayed
employed, raised 2 children and he's still alive
and kicking.
His most unforgettable moment
to date was getting a call from Ron
McFarlane. That kind of surprise can be one
of life's
highlights. |

Don did a hitch in the U.S.Army and was stationed in Europe
where he worked as a Nuclear Missile Weapons Specialist.
After discharge from the Army he took a job with Bendix
Aviation where he calibrated computers for "105 Jets".
After that Don took a job with Otis Elevator, as an elevator
examiner/mechanic, and remained with them for 32 years,
until retirement.
Don's interests have always been "travel" and being there
to assist their three sons with their families and homes.
Serving on the River Edge Shade Tree Commission has also
been very rewarding. One of his proudest achievements was
convincing the River Edge Town Council of the need for a
"tree replacement program". In an unprecedented move, the
council granted the Shade Tree Commission $180,000 and
Don's group was able to procure and plant 1,200 street shade
trees!
Of the many unforgettable moments in his life, Don will
never forget parachuting from a small plane at 3,000 feet,
with his sons, to mark his 50th birthday !! What a day!!
Indelible also, was a 2 week photo safari he and Carol took
to Africa (specifically to Kenya and Tanzania). Floating
over the Serengetti in a hot air balloon at sunrise, with a
champagne breakfast waiting at the landing site, is a pretty
awesome memory.
However,
Don considers the highlights of his life are marrying Carol
( the girl who dated Charlton Heston), and seeing
their three sons grow to maturity, complete college, marry,
have beautiful families (10 grandchildren) and
successful/worthwhile occupations. Life has been good to
them. . . |
