Betty Lou McCanless Dougherty
(deceased)

At the 50th reunion of our high school graduation, those attending will miss those classmates that cannot be there. From the perspective of 1954, this anniversary would seem to be an eternity, but from the perspective of 2003 looking back, aided  by these photographs, 1954 seems like yesterday. Thank you Betty Lou for being our classmate.

Grandchildren:     7
 Year married  1961
Upon graduation from BHS, Ron attended FDU where he earned a BS in Business Administration in 1958.  He worked in advertising for two years.  He became an insurance adjuster in 1961 for General Adjustment Bureau and managed their Binghampton, NY office.  In 1972 he then switched sides and became a public adjuster in Syracuse, NY.  He left there in 1977 for Texas where he founded him own firm, New Life Fire Adjustment Co.  He retired from that in 1994.

Ron says intelligence skips a generation because he never had any but, has two smart kids.  His daughter, Elaine, was 4th in her high school class of 1600, is a Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude graduate of Baylor University and has a PhD in clinical psychology.  His son, Steve, was 8th in his high school class of 1176, is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Texas A&M University with an EE degree, had a 4.0 GPA and was named their Outstanding Engineering Student of 1989.  He earned his Master's Degree in EE at SMU.  Again with a 4.0 GPA.

Ron enjoys boating, sports, building playhouses and watching sports on TV, except men's figure skating.  He is a Mentor with Youth Mentor Network, Plano, Texas.

His most memorable moment came when he almost cut his right arm off when he was 12 years old.  The disability he has had since then reminds him of it every day.

His biggest achievement has been not being killed by someone because of his warped sense of humor.
