Elaine retired from her job as Editor-in-Chief of
Southern Arizona Home Builder Magazine, two years ago.
She also did all photography for the magazine which she
found she enjoyed far more than the articles and interviews
she had to write. Her interests still include writing (for
fun and profit), painting (both walls and canvas) and making
fun of politicians.
Highlights of her life include the 3 years she lived in
London, if only to prove that the USA, despite its faults,
is still the greatest place in the world. Being backstage
at the Ed Sullivan Show when the Beatles first appeared was
a biggie (even though at the time she didn't think they had
a future - (little did she know). She claims that selling
her Intel and Yahoo stock before it tanked was a
memorable moment in her life, but she'd rather not talk
about her Enron shares. (I'm sure we all feel the same
about that.)
As far as achievements go, Elaine feels that raising 3 nice,
honest kids (without a Son of Sam, a Jeffrey Dahmer or a
Tanya Harding amongst them) is a great accomplishment in
this day and age.
As for embarrassing moments, Elaine claims to have a million
of them. Here is one of many. She was at a very posh
buffet/reception for Bill Bradley (then a U.S. Senator from
New Jersey). Also, in attendance was Bill's buddy, Robert
Redford. As we proceeded down the buffet table one delicacy
after another appeared and I had to taste them all. As I
was staggering to my table under the weight of my heaping
plate, Robert Redford came up and said in a loud, clear
voice, "Jeez, are you gonna eat all that?" So now, she's
getting her revenge by telling her classmates from B.H.S.
Class of '54, Robert Redford is about 4 feet 8 inches and
as she looked down at him, she noticed the roots of his
brassy, "blonde" hair needed a touch-up badly !! |
