A rewarding career in teaching has kept Joan very busy. She taught
elementary grades until she received her Master's degree as a reading
specialist. Joan was in charge of the reading program for three schools
and eventually one. She retired in 1992 and was given a fun-filled
retirement party.
Her only child, a daughter, Robin (quit when you have perfection, she
says) has two children. They live within walking distance of Grandma
Joanie's house.
Unforgettable moments were her daughter's achievement award at college
graduation and her gorgeous wedding; Joan's retirement party from the
education field and winning at horse shows (her younger days).
Joan's interests still include reading, traveling, her family and
friends and taking care and the loving of four dogs, three birds and a
horse. That love of animals hasn't changed in over 60 years.
