After graduation, Pat went to work with the telephone
company in Teaneck. After her marriage to Art in February,
1956 she continued to work at the phone company until the
birth of their first child, Susan in 1958. Pat & Art lived
in Hackensack until their 2nd child Jim, was born in 1959.
Needing more space they bought their first home in Neptune.
They had 2 more sons, Paul in 1961 and Peter in 1963.
Needing a larger home, they moved to Wall Twsp. where they
are today. Being near the shore was great and the kids
loved it. She was a "stay at home" Mom for 12 years but
decided to try part-time work in 1970. Pat worked at 3 jobs
in 2 malls for several years. When daughter, Susan was a
Junior in college she worked for a chiropractor during
summer break; when she went back to school Pat took the
job. She had new skills & routines to learn, but after 5
years it was time to move on. Pat has been working for
"Cedar Bridge Medical Associates" in Brick for the past 13
years, where she loves working in the Billing Dept. In her
spare time she loves gardening and reading.
When she turned 65
she cut her hours to 4 days a week.
That didn't last long because daughter Susan wanted to get
back to teaching after a 2 yr. maternity leave. Pat started
watching her twin grandsons on her day off. Their son Jim isn't married but has his own
home in Wall. Pat & Art's son
Paul and his wife Diane live in Brick with their 2 children,
Megan and Brandon.
Son Peter still lives at home. He was brain damaged at birth
(lack of oxygen). Pat's husband Art is also handicapped.
In 2001, while deer hunting, he fell from his tree stand.
As a result of the fall he has spinal cord injury. He spent
many weeks at Kessler Institute and was there a 2nd time
after cervical spine surgery. After many setbacks he
can walk with a cane and they feel he is lucky to
be "walking" at all. |
