After high school Carol attended the College of Wooster (1954-1956) then came back to New Jersey and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1958 with a BA in English and Psychology.  She worked as a social worker for the State Board of Child Welfare in Newark.  Carol married Bruce in 1958 and continued working until they had children; 3 boys; Owen, Stuart and Curtis.  After the boys were grown up she decided to go back to college. She enrolled  at Montclair State College where she studied pottery glazing in  their Arts program from 1987 to 1989,  and from that a pottery business developed.

In 1990 they moved from Mountain Lakes, NJ to Osprey, FL (which is located between Sarasota and Venice on the west coast of Florida) where she continues her pottery.  Carol is a flower arranger and Master Flower Show Judge.  She sells her flower arranging containers at Island Gallery West on Anna Marie Island, Florida, or at flower arranging symposiums and demonstrations.

Gerda has recently retired from Bergen Regional Medical Center (formerly known as Bergen Pines) as Chief Medical Technologist.  She graduated from Concordia College and later from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  She says that she travels frequently to Europe to visit family and friends. She especially enjoyed attending the Passion Play at Oberamergau, Germany in 2000. She likes taking day trips, and just recently traveled to Block Island, Rhode Island. 

Her interests are travel and music.  She still sings in the choir at her church.
